She is a woman. Strong and Elegant

Ryena Gupta, is a trained company secretary, a national level karateka, an avid animal lover – rescued many street animals and the director of her own company. She is an entrepreneur, a woman who loves talking and in a way that you won’t ever get bored of her! All in all, she’s absolutely a fantastic soul to befriend.

She is a good example of someone who’s strong and delicate. Being both soft and strong is a combination very few have mastered. Ryena explores all things new and strongly sticks to her beliefs.

Growing up, while being in the (Indian) national martial arts team, it wasn’t easy for her. She had to prove her dedication every step of the way. Missed an innumerous number of social occasions including her own birthday celebrations for which she was vastly criticised and got tagged as a ‘selfish’ person. While congratulating the medal owners we hardly know what they have passed to come to that level.

She even faced lots of body image issues everywhere she went. Where peers made fun of her for ‘not looking like a sports person” (whatever that means). She was also good in dancing but there again, they never took her seriously because a majority thinks as a woman if you are into sports your body language is not free-flowing enough.

Even though she was put through such stereotypes, she held her ground strong. At an early age, she learned how hypocrite the world can be and it’s not a piece of cake for us in this world.

Fast forward few years, now standing tall and high as a women entrepreneur, she yet again faced a number of challenges compared to the male peers. She was questioned about her skills just because she didn’t look like the rest. She survived so many years in a man dominated industry without thinking twice about her decision. Ryena knows how to fight against discrimination and prove herself.

But, we (men & women both) need to stop and ask few questions to ourselves. Is this the kind of society we want to live in, where people are questioned and stereotyped based on how they look? Do women always have to fight there way up since her birth? When will people stop jumping to conclusions without knowing the context? Have I done these to anyone? Was I proven wrong?

Think before you answer these questions and try to evaluate how you can change things. Maybe start from your own workplace/ home/ with your own friends?

Ryena has gone through her set of fights ever since her childhood, but she has come out as a strong person. She knows her elegance and has found the power inside her to shut every one of those idiotic questions thrown at her.
