Back to basics – Dress it up or keep it cool… Part 1/2

Naushaba is a final year student of English honors and an aspiring make-up artist. She recently started vlogging (give her some love and take some make-up tips here) and she believes in a complete fuss-free style statement. Look how she is absolutely rocking the shirt-jeans basic look!

We all have our days when we don’t want to make any effort and just put on some pants and a tee. But, what if I say you can still look cool wearing those basics or make it dressier? It’s very simple! layering and accessorizing will take care of both.

The trick to layering is to keep most of it in neutral shades (black/white/beige) and have one bright color; be it your outfit or accessories. Wear a shirt on top of your racer back tee or top and the moment you button the collar it automatically gives you a put-together look (I totally love the collared look). Wear a chunky neck piece to make it dressier and compliment it with a heavy duty bag and sneakers.

Instead of a chunky piece, a simple necklace can give you a chic and girly look. In that case, lose the tee inside and button up the shirt completely(make sure it’s a casual shirt otherwise it’ll look very formal if you button it up to the collar; sleeveless shirt works better in such cases).

Use complementary color schemes to keep it simple and chic. If you are afraid to wear a funky color, try to incorporate it in your accessories; like how Naushaba is carrying this uber-cool bag!

If you are going through one of those days where you literally don’t have time, then just try these simple tricks: fold your sleeves and tie a knot on one side of the t-shirt. Also, try fun color combos; here Naushaba is wearing white on white which never fails to work its magic. It always looks fresh and with a funky colored bag, it just took the style quotient to the next level, without too much hassle.

Go ahead, see what works for you – Hassle free and chic. Stay tuned for the part 2!
